What products does Delta 8 come in?
Everyone loves some variety. Having different colors and patterns to pick from when it comes to clothes is great! And who doesn’t like getting to pick your favorite fruit in a candy? We all like to have options. That’s why delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 8 or D8 THC) comes in so many different forms. But how do you find the right one for you? We can’t tell you which one you should buy, but we can tell you about the different kinds of D8 THC products to make an informed decision about what you want. So, let’s get started!
Some Delta 8 basics
Before we can dive into D8 THC products, we need to make sure that we’re all on the same page. Namely, we need to go over what Delta 8 is, where it comes from, and what kind of effects it could have.
Delta 8 THC is what’s known as a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that are found in cannabis plants, like hemp and marijuana. They are pretty amazing compounds because they can interact with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). In case you don’t know what the ECS is (and don’t worry, most people don’t), it is a system of receptors that helps the human body regulate some functions. Generally, it affects things like appetite and mood. Because cannabinoids, like Delta 8, can interact with the ECS, they can change how these functions are regulated.
There is another cannabinoid that is pretty similar to D8 THC that you’ve more than likely heard of before. It is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 9 THC). It is the kind of tetrahydrocannabinol that is normally called THC by itself. As you can tell from the name, it is really similar to Delta 8. It just has one minor difference in how it’s built. This difference is enough to make them stand out from each other.
D8, just like Delta 9 THC, is able to create a feeling of euphoria that is often associated with cannabis. Both forms of THC bind to the ECS receptors more tightly than any other cannabinoid. The difference is that Delta 8 doesn’t bind quite as tightly as Delta 9 THC. As a result, it doesn’t have quite the same psychoactive effect. This effect is often described as more bodily. Some even say that it’s a bit less intense than Delta 9 THC.
Another important difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC is that D8 is not technically illegal. Back in late 2018, the newest version of the Farm Bill was passed (Also known as H.R. 2 – Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018). This version had an amendment that legalized industrial hemp and all of its cannabinoids. D8 THC is found in hemp. But because Delta 9 THC is explicitly considered a Schedule One drug, it’s still federally illegal. While hemp is legal at the federal level, individual states may have a different idea. It’s also good to remember that not all states have legalized hemp, and some have actively outlawed D8 THC. So, be sure to study up on your state’s laws before you go hunting for any Delta 8 products.
Now that you have a better idea of what D8 THC even is, we can move on to the products.
Different kinds of Delta 8 products
Speaking of looking for D8 THC products, let’s talk a bit about the main kinds of products you’ll find that contain Delta 8. Below are just the overall categories of what you can find. There are tons of products to choose from in each category. So, going over each category should make narrowing them down to finding the right product for you much easier.
Edibles
Edibles are D8 THC products that are just what the name suggests: edible. They can be anything from gummies to cookies. Many people like edibles because it’s easy to control precisely how much Delta 8 you take. But eat with caution in order to find your right dose. The D8 THC won’t kick in until the food has completely digested. It could take an hour before you notice any effects. Be sure to wait a while before you try eating any more because it can be easy to take to overindulge if you aren’t patient.
Smoke and vape
Oils
That covers the main kinds of D8 THC products that are out there. Of course, there are plenty of products in each category, not just the examples we provided, such as Delta 8 CBD. Since Delta 8 has only just recently entered the mainstream, it’s pretty likely that we’ll see more and more products as time goes on. So, keep an eye out and feel free to explore and find the perfect one for you.
